Tracer: A Different Kind of PCB Assembly Manufacturer

Tracer is a traditional made-in-America success story: but it began when  Gabor Toth along with his family and son Andy, fled political unrest in Hungary to start the kind of groundbreaking business that was possible nowhere else. Combining business acumen and technical expertise, the two launched their first business in the late 80s, SMT Dynamics, in Aneheim, CA to deliver a new printed circuit board assembly method known as SMT (surface mount technology) to American manufacturers.

Inspired to move his family out of California, Andy decided to sell SMT Dynamics in 1994 and moved to Colorado, where he started another electronics manufacturing services company, Wytan. However, over time manufacturing was shifting to Asia, and Wytan’s model slowly became outdated.

Seeing the decline firsthand, Andy Toth’s son, Tyler, recognized a need to reinvent, retool, and rethink. Soon after graduating college, Tyler took over and bought out his fathers partner. And when Andy retired, Tyler used the foundation of Wytan to launch Tracer, a company focused on fast, high-tech prototyping.

Because Tracer has remained a family business, the business has evolved to take advantage of new opportunities. The next generation, led by Tyler Toth, invested in modern Yamaha SMT equipment that has positioned Tracer to meet the needs of clients requiring fast-paced, precise manufacturing.

Need a quote in 24 hours? We’re on it. Need 100-1,000 complicated PCBAs fast? We’ve got it covered. Need a critical product prototype delivered in days? Tracer delivers.

What sets us apart, however, is our hands-on approach. While larger companies treat customers like numbers, Tracer emphasizes direct communication to resolve issues early on and avoid costly mistakes.

Tracer aims to grow and expand its capacity while staying true to its core values—speed, precision, and a customer-first approach.
